Tilda Pure Original Basmati is grown in the foothills of the Himalayas and aged before milling, which is what gives it the long, slender grains that stay separate rather than clumping. Cooked properly it almost doubles in length, with the faint nutty aroma basmati is known for.
Tilda has been the benchmark basmati brand in Britain for decades, and this is the everyday 1kg pack — enough for around ten servings.
How to cook it
Rinse in cold water until the water runs clear, then use one part rice to one and a half parts water. Bring to the boil, cover, and simmer on the lowest heat for 10 minutes. Take off the heat and leave covered for a further 5 minutes before forking through.
Good with
- Curry goat, chicken curry and any Caribbean curry
- Jollof and West African rice dishes
- Pilau, biryani and stuffed vegetables
- Stews and soups where you want the grains to stay distinct
Supplied in a 1kg pack. Store in a cool, dry place.
